Spiced Apple crumble

Ingredients for crumble

260g plain flour

200g butter

55g dark brown sugar

110g caster sugar

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp cinnamon

Ingredients for apple filling

1.8kg apples, peeled, cored, and quartered

zest and juice of 1 lemon

110g caster sugar

3 tsp cornflour

1 tablespoon of water

vanilla ice cream to serve

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and grease a 30cm ovenproof dish

In a bowl using your fingertips, rub the plain flour and butter together until a coarse crumb is formed.

Add both sugars, cinnamon, and baking powder and stir to combine.

Place crumble mix in the fridge until ready to use.

Peel, core, and quarter your apples. In a saucepan combine the apples with the caster sugar, lemon zest, and juice. Cook on low- medium heat until the apples are soft and tender.

In a bowl combine the cornflour and hot water and stir well, add to your soft apple mix.

Transfer the apples into your greased tin and top with the cinnamon crumble mix.

Bake for 1 hour or until golden and bubbling

Serve with vanilla ice cream and enjoy.
